This is to report to you our experiences with the half day quad bike tour on Tuesday Sep 11, 2007 as discussed with Denise.
Overall Assessment:
The trip was disappointing when it comes to value for money and entertainment time to travel time.
Key Outages:
1. it took us more than 2 hours to get to the start with all the pick up activities and more than 1.5 hours to get back compared to the time on the quads for about 2 hours.
2. There was misinformation / lack of information:
2.a) the trip was sold as a half day trip, lasted from 9:30 till 4:30. That is to our account a full day.
2.b) there was no information that any beverages or food should be brought to the trip. During the full time there was no opportunity to get anything to eat. The only place to buy a drink was at the animal stop.
2.c) there was no information prior to departure of the route, what to expect and to see etc.
2.d) there was no info about the mosquito repellent will be a necessity at the animal stop.
3. the whole quad bike trip was handled in a rush mode by the lead guide RAUL.
4. there were no toilet facilities available.
5. during the whole trip we got filmed - without prior asking for permission. The video footage obtained was not shown to us. We are unaware what happened to it and whether is was for purchase or not.
6. the animal stop was abysmal. It was a "mud hole" with a few of animal species in inappropriate cages (snake, alligator, monkey, ocelot, turtle)
7. the route was questionable and in majority not into the jungle. It was along a construction site, a village and tertiary road in majority.
8. there was no mentioning about biodegradable sun cream and mosquito repellent for swimming the cenote (which was a key point on the Maya adventure snorkelling trip
